Textile Technology
The Textile Technology section provides a wide range of services to the handloom and power loom fabrics manufacturing industries in Sri Lanka. Both conventional and modern textile manufacturing machinery are available in the spinning, Waving, Knitting & Processing workshops where trainees are able to learn the mechanisms related to their specific textile subjects in the areas of conversion of fibres into fabrics in the value chain
Textile Testing Laboratory
In 1984 a small laboratory was set up at the Textile Training and Services Centre with the assistance of UNDP/UNIDO to support the product development and quality assurance work undertaken by the Centre. However, as a result of gradual increase in demand for testing for industry and procurement agencies, in the laboratory commenced testing textile and garments for those who needed the assistance to verify the conformity of products to various specification requirements. In 1995, it was decided to introduce an internationally accepted quality assurance system in 1995 to provide better service to the clients
Product Development Technology
The Product Development & Design section is equipped with special workshops which are essential to prepare trainees who are interested in learning fashion designing and pattern construction using state- of -the- art technology. This specialized service of providing comprehensive training programmes to beginners and industry personnel at certificate and diploma level, has gained outstanding recognition by the Sri Lankan textile and apparel industry. All the workshops are fully equipped in keeping with industry standards using both Gerber and Lectra technologies to match needs and preferences
Engineering & ICT Technology
The Engineering section comprises of electrical, electronic and mechanical equipment and instruments that help to conduct necessary training programs for trainees who follow certificate to diploma level courses in textile, apparel and leather & footwear. This section also possess a well-equipped workshop, laboratories and class room facilities that assists in teaching of the basics and the applications of engineering practices related to the textile, apparel and leather & footwear industry
Leather & Footwear Technology
The Leather & Footwear section was setup by SLITA to provide training in both designing and manufacturing technology and also to fulfill the growing needs of skilled manpower. The state-of-the-art technology and machinery along with the skills of practicing professionals is ready to advance the industry further by producing industry-ready personnel aimed at the local and global export market
Clothing Technology
The Clothing Technology section is equipped with necessary modern cutting, sewing and finishing machinery for the trainees to learn the techniques of manufacturing of garments and provides training and consultancy in the disciplines of industrial engineering, production organization, merchandizing, cutting room techniques, finishing and operation management
