My experience in SLITA (former CITI) as a Diploma student was blissfully intense and a delightful revelation to the apparel industry.  The course structure and content were very comprehensive, practical and applicable. I found the lecturers/facilitators to be highly knowledgeable and accommodating. One fond memory I still carry to date is of our final project where we had the opportunity to work on our very own fashion show. SLITA is a great choice for any person looking to learn the nooks of the ever-evolving apparel world.

Director General's Message

Sri Lankan Textile and Apparel industry is growing into new heights with the latest developments of the industry. With changes of industry-driven policies under a fresh outlook, after the recovery stage of the pandemic, I am privileged to take the lead role as the Director General of the institution.

I am proud to mention that SLITA is a self-sustained organization and its service delivery is aimed at a demand-driven industry sector. As the pioneer training institution in the country, we have capabilities and capacities to cater to the industry demand, arising in the contemporary market.

SLITA is happy to work with the pulse of the industry and through this, we are seeking to update the standards of the institution in order to meet the requirements of the industry. This is a better chance for SLITA to introduce the latest developments in technology to the textile and apparel industry. Very soon, the industry can be powered with technologically advanced production facilities to survive in ever-challenging competitive markets.

Advanced countries like Japan, Korea, and western countries adopt technology-driven production facilities in the sewing industry. SLITA is now ready to take up the challenge of gaining advantages over other countries in the textile and apparel sectors. This situation is of immense benefit to the industrialists to go beyond the boundaries. In the Asian regions, the Sri Lankan industry can emerge prominently with the advancement of technological applications.
